Matteo Manassero (born April 19, 1993 in Negrar ) is an Italian professional golfer on the European Tour .

Career

In 2009, at the age of 16, he was the youngest winner of the British Amateur Championship . With this victory he qualified for the Open Championship of the same year and not only made the cut, but also won the Silver Medal as best amateur as a shared thirteenth. The following year he was also able to achieve the title of best amateur at the Masters 2010 and was by far the youngest player in the cut. Manassero led the world amateur rankings for 18 weeks in December 2009. This was followed by the transfer to the professional camp.

In October 2010 he won his first tournament on the European Tour, making him the youngest winner of that tournament series to date. At the end of the season, Manassero was awarded the Sir Henry Cotton Rookie of the Year Award .
