Brooks Koepka (born May 9, 1990 in West Palm Beach , Florida , USA ) is an American professional golfer who mainly plays on the PGA Tour . His greatest successes include four wins in major tournaments and reaching the top position in the golf world rankings in October 2018.

Life

Koepka grew up in Palm Beach County on the Atlantic coast of Florida and played golf as an amateur at Florida State University in Tallahassee .

His younger brother Chase Koepka is also a professional golfer.

Career

In 2012 he started as a professional on the European Challenge Tour , where he won his first professional tournament in September 2012. With two further victories in 2013, Koepka earned the right to play on the European Tour . He has been on the American PGA Tour since 2014. In 2017 Koepka achieved his first victory in a major with his victory at the US Open . After being sidelined for a wrist operation in early 2018, he defended his US Open title in the summer and then won his third major title with the PGA Championship . On October 22, 2018, by winning the CJ Cup at Nine Bridges, he achieved first place in the golf world rankings , which he held for two weeks. On May 19, 2019, he won his fourth major title by defending his title at the PGA Championship and returned to the top of the world rankings.

For the USA he played the Ryder Cup in 2016 and 2018 and the Presidents Cup in 2017 .

During 2018 Ryder Cup Brooks Koepka pulled a tee. The golf ball hit a spectator in the face, who then went blind in one eye.
