Lee Janzen (born August 28, 1964 in Austin , Minnesota ) is an American professional golfer on the PGA Tour and two-time US Open winner.
Career
Lee spent most of his childhood in Baltimore , playing baseball in children's leagues . At the age of 12, his father's company was relocated and the family relocated to Florida. Janzen started playing golf and tennis there, but continued to play baseball. He eventually decided to play golf, and at age 15 won his first tournament as a member of the Greater Tampa Junior Golf Association . Janzen attended Florida Southern College and was part of the winning team at the NCAA Division II Men's Golf Championships in 1985 and 1986 , where he also won the individual ranking in 1986. In the same year Janzen became a professional golfer.
He has been successful eight times on the PGA Tour so far, with Janzen not only winning the US Open in 1993 and 1998 (both ahead of Payne Stewart ) but also the highly endowed Players Championship in 1995.
He played in 1993 and 1997 in the Ryder Cup and in 1998 in the Presidents Cup for the USA team.
Janzen is married to his wife Beverly. The couple have a son and live in Orlando , Florida .
