Jordan Spieth (born July 27, 1993 in Dallas , Texas ) is an American professional golfer on the PGA Tour .
Career
After a very successful amateur career on the University of Texas golf team , including two victories at the US Junior Amateur Golf Championship in 2009 and 2011, Spieth became a professional golfer in 2012. In 2013 he won his first tournament on the PGA Tour , the John Deere Classic. Spieth was a member of the winning American team at the 2013 Presidents Cup . Fred Couples personally selected Spieth as one of two Captain's Picks. On September 27, 2013 Spieth was voted Rookie of the Year on the PGA Tour . In 2014, he qualified seventh on the money list for the 2014 Ryder Cup US team .
His most successful year so far was 2015: By winning the Masters , he won his first major tournament. A little later he won his second major title at the US Open . A second place at the PGA Championship made him the new number 1 in the golf world rankings . A victory in the final Tour Championship also meant for Spieth victory in the playoff of the PGA Tour, the FedEx Cup . With 12 million US dollars, he won more prize money in one season than any golfer before or since then.
On January 10, 2016, Spieth won the Tournament of Champions on the USPGA Tour in Hawaii . With this victory, he pulled Tiger Woods equal in the number of tournament victories under the age of 23 and with 262 strokes became the second player after Ernie Els in 2003, who had a tournament over 4 rounds on a course of at least par 72 with 30 strokes under par or better finished. He did this on the par 73 Kapalua Plantation Course on Maui.

Jordan Spieth has two siblings and attended St. Monica Catholic School as a teenager before graduating from a Jesuit school in Dallas in 2011 .
