As a senior, Thomson then played in North America, scored nine successes on the Champions Tour - at that time still the Senior PGA Tour - in the 1985 season (an unbroken record) and won the money list ranking.

His last win came in 1988 at the British PGA Senior Tournament . In the same year he was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame . He was also an honorary member of the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews .

Peter Thomson was President of the Australian PGA from 1962 to 1994 . He led the international team at the Presidents Cup in 1996, 1998 and 2000 as a non-playing captain .
