Lodewicus Theodorus "Louis" Oosthuizen (born October 19, 1982 ) is a South African professional golfer .
Life / career
Oosthuizen was born in Mossel Bay , South Africa. At the beginning of his career he was financially supported by the foundation of his compatriot Ernie Els . In 2000 he was a member of the victorious South African team at the World Amateur Championships. He won various amateur titles before becoming a professional golfer in 2002 at the age of 19.
He has won five professional titles on the South African Sunshine Tour . He first played on the PGA European Tour in 2003 and has been a permanent member of this tour since 2004. In 2009 he finished 31st at the Race to Dubai . In addition, he was already in the top 50 of the golf world rankings.
In March 2010 he won his first title on the PGA European Tour with the Open de Andalucia de Golf.
With the victory at The Open Championship 2010 he celebrated the greatest success of his career. He showed a strong performance over all rounds and won the tournament by seven strokes.
