Life / career

After graduating from high school, he attended Baylor University in Waco Texas , where he was a member of the golf team. At the age of 22 he decided to pursue a career as a professional golfer in 2001 and was then able to secure full entry rights for the Nationwide Tour of 2003. In 2004 he won the first two tournaments and ended the season as the winner of the money list and with the award "Player of the Year" - this also meant qualification for the PGA Tour .

Due to injuries and poor results in the first few years, he had to leave the PGA Tour as 202nd the money list after the end of the 2006 season and played again from 2007 on the Nationwide Tour. This season he finished 25th in the ranking and with a tournament victory, which he was able to secure the PGA tour card again. In the following years he achieved only a few good results, with a few exceptions, until he qualified for the first time for the FedEx Cup play-offs in 2011 with a few top ten placements . In the subsequent 2012 season he was able to improve his results and finished this season as 43rd of the FedExCup with a total of over two million dollars.

In the 2014 season, which started in autumn 2013, he was able to secure his first tournament victory after nine years and 188 tournaments on the PGA Tour. He was able to repeat this success twice in the following seven tournaments of the season. Due to his tournament victories and several top ten placements in major tournaments, he was able to qualify for the first time for the US team of the Ryder Cup 2014 after completing the PGA Championship as fourth in the ranking .

The greatest success of his career was when he won the PGA Championship in 2016.
