Etienne Soukkarie
Etienne Soukkarie , also Stephen Sukkariyeh or Etienne Soukharyé (born October 17, 1868 in Damascus , Syria , † November 25, 1921 ) was Patriarchal Vicar of the Melkite Greek Catholic Church of Alexandria in Egypt .
Life
Etienne Soukkarie was ordained a priest in 1891 . On April 25, 1920 he was called to the Patriarchal Vicar of Alexandria with simultaneous appointment as titular archbishop of Myra dei Greco-Melkiti . He succeeded Auxiliary Bishop Pierre-Macario Saba (1903-1919). The Patriarch of Antioch Archbishop Demetrios I. Kadi donated him episcopal ordination on the same day ; Archbishop Nicolas Cadi of Bosra and Hauran and Archbishop Maximos Sayegh of Tire worked as co-consecrators .
He was succeeded by Antonio Farage .
