The Bareun-mirae-Party ( Korean : 바른 미래당, Transliteration : Bareun-mirae-dang , translated into German : Party of the Right Future or Party of the Right Future ) is a centrist party in South Korea . It emerged in early 2018 from the liberal Gungminui party and the conservative Bareun party .

history

In January 2018, the two party leaders of the previous parties announced that they wanted to merge their political work. This gave rise to the new Bareun mirae party, which has been active since February 13, 2018. The Gungminui party has traditionally been strong in the Jeolla-do region and the Bareun party achieved good election results in the Gyeongsang-do region .

In the Gungminui party, the merger with the Bareun party met with opposition due to political differences. As a result, some members of the Gungminui party founded the Minju-peyonghwa party on February 6, 2018 , which forms a faction with the Jeongui party in the South Korean parliament .

In the South Korean regional elections on June 13, 2018, the party won five out of 824 seats in provincial parliaments and 21 out of a total of 2,927 seats in local parliaments.
