The Barkley Mountains are a small group of mountains in Queen Maud Land, East Antarctica . They loom between the Kvitsvodene valley and the Rogstad glacier in Sverdrupfjella . They include the Kvitkjølen mountain range and Isingen mountain .
They were discovered and named during the German Antarctic Expedition in 1938/39 under the direction of polar explorer Alfred Ritscher . It is named after Erich Barkley (1912–1944), biologist on this research trip. A survey was carried out by participants in the Norwegian-British-Swedish Antarctic Expedition (1949–1952).
