Baroque shrine (Nordheim am Main)
The baroque shrine is located on the outskirts of the wine village of Nordheim am Main . It stands at the beginning of the vineyards next to the so-called Mittelweg.
history
The wayside shrine was created in the 17th century. An inscription on the back of the article names the year and the donor: "Hans • Jörg • Schle / singer • Schultheiss • / Hanß • Manger • / Anno • 1 • 6 • 90". The Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation classifies the wayside shrine as a monument under the number D-6-75-155-35.

The torture is a work of the baroque . The square base is bulged. The thickened beginning of the column bears several semi-sculptural reliefs. They show putti in front and behind and fruit ornament on the sides . The round column is twisted. Stone grapevines frame the column shaft. The transition to the wayside shrine forms a decorated capital .
The wayside shrine is divided in two at the front. Below is a putti framed by two volutes . In the crucifixion scene above, the deceased Jesus is surrounded by Mary and Mary Magdalene . Two pilasters frame the scene. The back bears a pietà. A medallion contains the inscription of the donors. A metal cross crowns the torture. On the sides of the wayside shrine are the figures of Saints Kilian and John the Baptist .
