Thomas Robinson, 1st Baron Grantham

Baron Grantham , of Grantham in the County of Lincoln was a hereditary British title in the Peerage of Great Britain .

Awarding and other titles

The title was created on April 7, 1761 for the diplomat and politician Thomas Robinson .

The 3rd Baron inherited the title of 6th Baronet Robinson , of Newby in the County of York , created in 1690, in the Baronetage of England, in 1792 , and 2nd Earl de Gray , of Wrest in the County of Bedford , created in 1816 in 1833 , in the Peerage of the United Kingdom .

Before his nephew inherited him in November 1859 as 3rd Earl De Gray and 4th Baron Grantham, in January 1859 his father gave him the titles of 2nd Earl of Ripon , in the County of York, created 1833, and 2nd Viscount Goderich , created in 1827, both inherited in the Peerage of the United Kingdom. In 1871 he was promoted to Marquess of Ripon , in the County of York.

All of these titles were listed as subordinate titles to the Marquess and expired on the death of the 2nd Marquess on September 22, 1923.
