Left of the Middle is the debut album by Australian singer Natalie Imbruglia . It was released in 1997 on the RCA label. Both the album and the first single Torn were great international hits.

reception

Allmusic critic Greg Prato was positive about the album Left of the Middle . With its relaxed alternative pop and melodic-sweet vocals, it fulfills the expectations raised by the previous single Torn . This is the best title on the album, but the pop-rock track Big Mistake almost comes close. Imbruglia has its own style. In contrast to some other pop singers, she also dares - supported by mixer Nigel Godrich - to experiment with electronic sounds, which can be seen on the track Smoke , among other things .
