Baron Newborough

Baron Newborough is the name of two hereditary British titles of nobility that were awarded in parallel in the Peerage of Ireland .

Awards

For the first time on April 12, 1715 the title of Baron Newborough , of Newborough in the County of Wexford , was created for George Cholmondeley , second-born son of Robert Cholmondeley, 1st Viscount Cholmondeley . On July 10, 1716 he was also awarded the title Baron Newburgh , of Newburgh in the Isle of Anglesey , in the Peerage of Great Britain . When his older brother died on January 18, 1724, he also inherited the titles of 2nd Earl of Cholmondeley (1706), 3rd Viscount Cholmondeley (1661), 2nd Viscount Malpas (1706) and 2nd Baron Cholmondeley (1689). His great-grandson, the 4th Earl, was also raised to Marquess of Cholmondeley and Earl of Rocksavage on November 22, 1815 , the aforementioned titles have since been subordinate titles of the respective Marquess. Today's title holder has been David Cholmondeley, 7th Marquess of Cholmondeley as 9th Baron Newborough since 1990 .

In parallel to the title of the first award, Sir Thomas Wynn, 3rd Baronet , was raised to Baron Newborough , of Newborough, in the second award on July 23, 1776 . As early as 1773 he had inherited the subordinate title Baronet , of Bodvean in the County of Carnarvon , from his father Sir John Wynn, 2nd Baronet (1701–1773), which his grandfather Thomas on October 25, 1742 in the Baronetage of Great Britain Wynn (1677-1749) had been awarded. Today's title holder has been his great-great-great-grandson Robert Wynn as the 8th Baron Newborough since 1998 .

The heir ( Heir apparent ) is the eldest son of the current title holder Alexander Cholmondeley, Earl of Rocksavage (* 2009).

Barons Newborough, second bestowal (1776)

Probable title heir ( Heir Presumptive ) is the cousin of the current title holder, Anthony Wynn (* 1949).
