Barry Eisler (born 1964 in New Jersey ) is an American writer . He became known through a series of novels about the hit man John Rain, marketed in German as Tokio Killer .

Life

Eisler has been involved in martial arts such as boxing , wrestling , judo (he has a black belt ), karate and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu since childhood .

Barry Eisler is very interested in Japan , which is also reflected in his novels, most of which are set in Asia. He regularly travels to Japan and Asia.

After graduating from Cornell Law School in Ithaca, New York in 1989 , Eisler worked for the CIA for three years . After the success of his debut novel Tokio Killer , he turned to writing full-time. His bibliography now includes a small series of thrillers around his character of the hit man John Rain.

The first novel was filmed in Japan by Max Mannix (screenplay adaptation and direction) under the title Rain Fall with Kippei Shiina as John Rain and Gary Oldman as CIA agent William Holtzer, the premiere was in Tokyo on April 16, 2009. May 2010 the film was released directly on DVD in the USA . Barry Eisler currently lives in San Francisco with his family .
