history

Bartelshagen I b. Ribnitz-D. originated as a street village and was first mentioned in a document in 1257.

The addition "b. Ribnitz-D." the place was only given in the GDR to distinguish it from Bartelshagen II b. Barth . By merging the former Rostock-Land (Mecklenburg) and Franzburg-Barth (Western Pomerania) districts during the reorganization of the districts in the GDR in 1952, both places came into the newly founded Ribnitz-Damgarten district , so that a distinction was necessary.

After the reunification, the place remained in the Ribnitz-Damgarten district until it was dissolved on July 12, 1994 and incorporated into the new district of Northern Western Pomerania . On January 1, 1999, it was incorporated into Marlow.
