Bartolomeo Bianco

Bartolomeo Bianco (* around 1590 in Coldrerio ; † 1657 in Genoa ) was a Italian -Schweizer architect of the Baroque .

life and work

Bartolomeo was born the son of the architect Cipriano. He moved to Genoa at a very young age to follow his father, who was employed by the local monastery of Padri Agostiniani of Carbonara in the Castelletto area .

After working as a fortress builder in various cities in Liguria , he began to work as an urban planner in Genoa. His most important buildings are the main building of the University of Genoa (1634 to 1638), several villas in Via Balbi from 1606 and the Villa Durazzo-Pallavicini .

His son Giovanni Battista was also an architect in Genoa.
