The Brauengirlitz ( Crithagra gularis , Syn . : Serinus gularis ) is a species from the finch family . The species is occasionally kept as an ornamental bird in Europe.
description
The Brauengirlitz reaches a body length of fifteen centimeters. The two sexes are colored the same.
Browengiritz has noticeable stripes over the eyes that extend to the sides of the neck. The top of the head is finely dashed. The top of the body is gray-brown. The underside of the body is lighter. The throat and the under tail-coverts are white.
Way of life and distribution
The clutch consists of two to four eggs. They have a white-green shell color with dark brown spots. The incubation period is 14 days. Its diet consists mainly of grass seeds and millet. This is absorbed by the ground.
The distribution area of the Brauengirlitz extends from West and South West Africa to South Africa . Its habitat is semi-open terrain, where it is hardly noticeable due to its inconspicuous plumage.
