Coldrerio with the Villa Coldrerio fraction is a municipality in the Mendrisio district , in the Mendrisio district of the canton of Ticino in Switzerland .
geography
The village is around ten kilometers from Chiasso and is close to the Swiss-Italian border. The place is best known for the nearby motorway service station on the A 2 and the Zimmerli tailoring shop .
history
The village was first mentioned in 852 under the name of Caledrano . In 1170, Coldrerio and the surrounding villages up to the Tresa were assigned to the county of Seprio on the occasion of the border adjustment between Como and Milan . In 1275 the village formed a parish; a castle is mentioned in the same year. The hamlet of Villa is mentioned as early as 1275.
