Bas Kortmann
Sebastianus Constantinus Johannes Josephus "Bas" Kortmann (born July 25, 1950 in Weert ) is a Dutch lawyer and from 2007 to 2014 Rector magnificus of Radboud University Nijmegen .
Life
Kortmann studied law at the Rijksuniversiteit Groningen and received his doctorate cum laude from the Radboud University Nijmegen in 1977 . Afterwards he was employed as a research assistant and worked as a lawyer . In 1984 Kortmann was appointed professor for civil law. Between 1990 and 2010 he was a member of the supervisory board of the Dutch SNS Reaal Bank .
Kortmann was awarded as a knight in the Order of the Dutch Lion . His father was the politician Constant Kortmann ; his brothers Constantijn and Yvo Kortmann are professor emeritus for constitutional law and mayors, respectively.
