Baseline is a multinational jazz band . It has existed since 1994. "Baseline" was founded by the Dutch bass player Hein van de Geyn . Members were initially the guitarist John Abercrombie and the drummer Joe LaBarbera ; in addition, the singer Dee Dee Bridgewater and the woodwind player John Ruocco worked on individual albums of the band. Although it is nominally led by Hein van de Geyn, who also contributes most of the compositions, Baseline's music was initially strongly influenced by John Abercrombie’s style.
