Bashir Ahmad Rahmati

Bashir Ahmad Rahmati (born June 5, 1985 ) is an Afghan wrestler . He was a member of the five-member teams from Afghanistan, the 2,004 in Athens for the first time since the fall of the Taliban -Regierung again Olympics participated.

Rahmati comes from the Parwan province , about an hour's drive north of the capital Kabul . He has been wrestling since he was ten and is an Afghan champion.

At the Olympic Games in Athens he was able to start because of a wild card . At the invitation of the International Olympic Committee , Rahmati and the four other Afghan athletes were given the opportunity to prepare for the Games from May 2004 on the Greek island of Lesbos . There he was trained by the two-time Japanese medalist Kōsei Akaishi .

On August 27, 2004 Rahmati competed in freestyle wrestling in the weight class up to 55 kilograms. He lost his first fight against the Uzbek world champion in 2003 Dilschod Mansurow with 0: 4. In his second fight he was defeated by the eventual Olympic champion Mawlet Batirow from Russia also 4-0. This means that Rahmati was eliminated in the pool phase of the competition without winning a point and in the end finished 22nd and last in his weight class.
