Basil Bennett
Basil Bennett ( Basil B. Bennett, last name also Bennet ; born November 30, 1894 in Dudley , Edgar County , Illinois , † August 19, 1938 in Maywood , Illinois) was an American hammer thrower .
At the Olympic Games in Antwerp in 1920 he won the bronze medal with 48.25 m behind his compatriot Pat Ryan (52.875 m) and the Swede Carl Johan Lind (48.43 m).
His best performance of 48.27 m he set on September 1, 1923 in Chicago as third in the US championship.
Basil Bennett graduated from the University of Illinois .
