Basil Oberholzer

Basil Oberholzer (* 1990 ; resident in Tablat ) is a Swiss politician ( Greens ).

Life

Basil Oberholzer grew up in the Heiligkreuz district in St. Gallen . After studying economics at the University of Zurich , he did community service in the Solidarity House in Eastern Switzerland . He then wrote his dissertation on monetary policy and the oil market at the University of Freiburg . Oberholzer lives in St. Gallen and works as an economist at the Federal Office for the Environment in Bern .

Basil Oberholzer was politicized in the noughties in the context of the movement critical of globalization and the social and environmental forum in Eastern Switzerland .

From 2011 to 2018 he was a member of the city ​​parliament of St. Gallen, where he was a member of the works committee from 2011 to 2016.

In 2016, Basil Oberholzer was elected to the Cantonal Council of St. Gallen , where he has been a substitute member of the editorial committee since 2016 and a member of the interest group IG Nature and Environment of the Cantonal Council since 2017 .

Basil Oberholzer was co-initiator and campaign leader of the urban sprawl initiative submitted by the Young Greens in 2016 and rejected in the vote on February 10, 2019 .

Basil Oberholzer was a board member of the St. Gallen cantonal trade union federation and is a board member of the St. Gallen Green Party.
