The Basset artésien normand is a French breed of dog recognized by the FCI ( FCI Group 6, Section 1.3, Standard No. 34 ).
description
The Basset artésien normand is very long for its size (up to 36 cm). The hair is short, close-fitting but not too fine, in the colors fawn with a black coat and white (three-colored) or fawn with white (two-tone). The ears are set as low as possible, never above the line of the eyes; thin, very long, at least as long as the muzzle , preferably ending in a point. Its direct ancestor is the Basset d'Artois , who went into this breed and is now considered extinct.
use
Like all bassets, it is a dog for hunting small game . Thanks to his short runs , thickets are no problem for him. He hunts with a loud track , i.e. barking, alone or in a group. He is very robust and is often kept as a companion dog .
