Bassila is a town and municipality in the Donga department in the West African country of Benin .

history

The municipality has an area of ​​5,661 km² and in 2013 had a population of 130,770. The trunk road RNIE 3 runs through the town of Bassila on the border with Togo , so the majority of the population is of Togolese origin. Bassila includes (as of 2013) 30 villages. The city has been twinning with Sulzbach in the Saarland since 2005 .

Sports

The Fédération Béninoise de Football has been running the Bassila Foot Academie in the village since 2011 and mainly trains young people from poor backgrounds in football.
