Battle of the Blood Coast (Original title: Battle at Bloody Beach ) is an American war film from 1961 by Herbert Coleman with Audie Murphy in the lead role.

action

When the Japanese army attacks the Philippines , the American couple Craig and Ruth Benson are separated from each other. In the following years Benson joins a resistance group and supplies them with supplies and takes care of the injured and scattered. With the help of the radio operator Marty Sackler, Benson contacts the guerrilla leader Julio Fontana. Fontana agrees to hide Americans in the mountains. In return, he should receive urgently needed ammunition.

Benson finds out that his wife has joined the guerrillas. She believed him dead and is now Fontana's friend. Benson and Fontana lead a group of civilians to the beach to be picked up by a submarine. The Japanese attack, Marty tries to swim to his radio to get help. But he is attacked and killed by a shark. Benson escapes the attack. He sneaks up to the guerrillas, who in turn attack the Japanese. The submarine appears and picks up the civilians. Ruth decides to leave Fontana and return to her husband.

The film was shot on the island of Santa Catalina off the coast of California .

After autobiographical To Hell and Back ( To Hell and Back , 1955) and marching orders to hell ( War is Hell , 1960), in which he served as narrator of the prologue, this is the third War of Audie Murphy , the most decorated US soldier of the Second World War .
