The Behnsdorf farm stone is a listed farm stone in the village of Behnsdorf, which belongs to the municipality of Flechtingen . It is one of the rare examples of these stone marks in the north of Saxony-Anhalt .

The Bauernstein is located on the east side of Bauernstraße in the center of Behnsdorf, in front of the farm at Bauernstraße 21 .

Design and history

The peasant stone consists of a flat sandstone slab and was used in the past as a place for farmers' meetings in which village matters were decided and jurisdiction took place. The master builder constitution has been documented for Behnsdorf since the 16th century. The middle of the 16th century is often given for the stone itself, although an exact date is not possible. The last meeting took place in the early 19th century.

There were two peasant stones for Behnsdorf. In 2005, a peasant stone was described as being embedded in the ground and partly built over. Today (as of 2019) the listed stone is free and slightly raised. There is an explanatory board next to the stone.

The stone is considered to be of local and legal significance. The name of the farm road goes back to the stone.

In the local register of monuments , the peasant stone is listed as a small monument under registration number 094 84181 .
