Building stone from Hamre
The monolith of Hamre stands on a fruit farm on Sognefjordvegen, west of Leikanger -Ferjekai (Ferry) at Sognefjord , municipality Sogndal in Fylke Vestland in Norway .
The massive building stone ( menhir ) is about 4.0 meters high, 80 cm wide and 30 cm thick, it slopes slightly to one side.
There were many building stones and burials from the Iron Age in the area, but most of them have since been lost.
Nearby are the Balderstein , the Nybø building stone and the Baldershagen burial ground .
