Bavokerk (Aardenburg)
The Sint-Bavokerk (also called Sint-Baafskerk ) is a Protestant parish church in the Scheldt Gothic style in Aardenburg, Netherlands ( province of Zeeland ).
history
In 959 the Ghent Bavo Abbey built a small church in Aardenburg. In 1202 the church burned down. Today's Bavokerk was built after 1243. Its style is shaped by the transition from Romanesque to Gothic . It is one of the top 100 Dutch cultural monuments . The church belongs to the United Protestant Church in the Netherlands, which was created in 2004 .
organ
The organ goes back to an instrument that was built around 1680 by the organ builder AA Kuerten. Only the magnificent, multi-storey organ case has survived . The organ was built in 1955 by the Flentrop organ building company. The slider chests -instrument has 19 registers on two manuals and pedal . The actions are mechanical.
