The bbw Bildungswerk der Wirtschaft in Berlin and Brandenburg is a non-profit educational institution founded in 1972 which, on behalf of the Association of Business Associations in Berlin and Brandenburg , implements business-related educational offers for professionals, job seekers, young people and companies. With over 600 courses in 36 training centers and branches every year, the bbw group is one of the leading providers of training services in Berlin and Brandenburg. The bbw Bildungswerk der Berliner Wirtschaft eV was founded on April 11, 1972 in Berlin-Charlottenburg by employers' associations and companies. The goal was a socio-political oriented educational work. On June 13th, bbw Academy for Business Further Education GmbH was founded as a non-profit bbw subsidiary. It began with the retraining of more than 200 former NVA officers in commercial professions with an additional degree as a state-recognized business economist . The bbw Bildungszentrum Frankfurt (O.) GmbH was founded on June 13, 1991 as a non-profit subsidiary of bbw. 1,400 apprentices from the former semiconductor plant in Frankfurt (O.) were taken on, particularly in the fields of electrical engineering and electronics . Former civilian employees of the Allies were re-qualified in 1994. The bbw Academy took part in the preparation of 7,000 civilian employees of the Allies in Berlin so that they could take up a new job in the economy. The Bildungszentrum Strausberg GmbH was founded on March 30, 1995. The educational center specializing in gardening, landscaping , floristry and gastronomy in Bremen was taken over as a daughter of bbw. The German-Polish Business Education Foundation was founded in July 1995. The establishment was initiated by bbw and the regional employers' associations of the Polish voivodeships of Gorzów Wielkopolski and Zielona Góra . On August 18, 1997, bbw Dienstleistungsgesellschaft mbH was founded with the aim of taking over and promoting activities in commercial business operations. In doing so, tasks were performed that are not among the primary tasks of the other bbw companies. The bbw communication center was opened in 1997 on the historic site of the Hubertusstock hunting lodge . In 1998 the cooperation with the German Armed Forces began with the “career training for officers”.
The first private commercial vocational school was opened in Karlshorst in March 1998. You gain state recognition in four countries. On July 28, 1998, the vocational preparation and training company mbH (bbw BuA) was founded. From December 1st, the bbw Academy developed a network of secondary schools and companies with funding from ESF and employment agencies, which supports secondary school students in choosing a career and applying for a training position. On the initiative of the Berlin-Brandenburg business associations, a bbw university was established on January 27, 2007 , in cooperation with the Berlin University of Applied Sciences. founded.
