Be Like Others is an Iranian documentary film about the life of transgender people in Iran .

The film was shot in 2008 in Persian by Tanaz Eshaghian , who also wrote the script. She produced the film together with Christoph Jorg. The music in the film comes from Henning Lohner.

In the film, the life of transsexual people in Iran is followed in everyday life. It shall be documented as transsexual people at a clinic in Tehran a gender reassignment surgery to undergo. Since 1983, these operations have been allowed for transsexual people in Iran based on a fatwa by Ayatollah Khomeini . The life of homosexual people is also shown in the film. Since homosexual acts in Iran are threatened with the death penalty, they can only lead their lives hidden in Iran or have to undergo gender reassignment surgery in order to survive in everyday life, even though they are not transsexual.
