An interview with Bea Trampenau

Bea Trampenau (born January 14, 1962 in Hamburg ) is a German social worker and non-fiction author .

Life

Bea Trampenau has been involved in the German women's and lesbian movement since the late 1970s . She has been active in the Hamburg women's and lesbian movement for many years; in 1982 she was instrumental in founding the association Intervention e. V. , from which the Young Lesbian Center later emerged, which is unique in this form in Germany. Bea Trampenau was a permanent employee of the association from 1989 to 2001. Since 2004 she has been employed again, in between she volunteered for the association. She is responsible for finance and other managerial tasks on the board of the association. On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the association in 2007, the work of the association was officially recognized by the Hamburg Senate with a reception in the Hamburg City Hall .

Bea Trampenau has published two non-fiction books that are important for the lesbian movement. Trampenau's book No place for lesbian girls was fundamental for the perception of the concerns of lesbian girls in the women's / lesbian movement as well as in social work . Trampenau's book on lesbian work with girls has meanwhile been received several times in academic academic discourse.

An inventory of the legal situation of gays and lesbians was provided by the counselor With the Double Ax through the Paragraph Jungle (1991), which she developed together with the lawyer Katrin Behrmann.

The focus of her work and social work is dealing with the subject of " lesbians and old age". From the conference “Aging differently - Information and Networking Conference on Lesbians and Age”, which Trampenau co-founded association Intervention e. V. carried out in December 2002, the specialist working group "Lesbians and Age - Aging Different" emerged, which is composed of lesbian representatives from senior citizens' facilities, lesbian / women projects and individuals. The aim of the working group is to remove taboos from the subject among lesbian women and to raise awareness of traditional work with the elderly - also with the aim of stimulating target group-oriented offers for lesbians (and gays). The results of the symposia were documented and published. Bea Trampenau puts the main focus of her work with the elderly on the establishment of networks for lesbians in old age and on the special consideration of the gay and lesbian context in the care of the elderly.

In a senior citizens' and nursing home in Hamburg, she initiated the establishment of a dedicated “lesbian floor” for the residents. This nationwide so far only known institution of this kind takes into account the special living and care situation of lesbian women in their individual forms.

At public regional and national events, panel discussions and gay and lesbian events, Bea Trampenau repeatedly takes a stand on current socio-political issues. Her topics include a. dealing with the persecution of lesbians and gays during the Nazi era and the question of civil partnerships between gays and lesbians.

Bea Trampenau is the managing director of the residential and holiday home Heideruh e. V. in Buchholz in the north heath . She is the daughter of the Wilhelmsburg communist resistance fighter Richard Trampenau, who was arrested and sentenced to death in 1933 and imprisoned in Celle prison from 1933 to 1945.
