Self-image

Telling stories or being told has always inspired Bea von Malchus. What interests her about storytelling is the simplicity of the form , the renunciation of technology or decoration and the open, lively communication between the stage and the auditorium.

I worked in theaters for more than fifteen years: as an actress, director and dramaturge ... But when I wanted to experience something beautiful, I never rushed to the theater, but sank into a novel. Theater didn't have what I longed for: stories! Stories that went on in my mind's eye. Telling stories or being told has always inspired me. When my grandmother told me something as a child, the kitchen floor was transformed into waves of the sea, the teapot into a palace, and she herself into Little Red Riding Hood. Theater never managed that for me! I saw talented actors in impressive stage sets, who spoke to crazy soundtracks in front of artistically valuable video projections and thought: “Grandma was better! She only had her kitchen chair, but she could create a world. ” | Quote: Bea von Malchus
