Peter Wintruff

Peter Wintruff (born March 27, 1940 in Stettin ) is a German politician ( SPD ).

Life and work

Wintruff grew up in the GDR after the Second World War and fled to the West in the late 1950s. After graduating from high school in Erlangen in 1959, he studied civil engineering at the Technical University of Karlsruhe until 1965 . After two years as a structural engineer, he was a trainee teacher in Karlsruhe and at the Stuttgart University of Applied Sciences . Since 1973 he worked as a teacher at a vocational school in Karlsruhe. Wintruff is married and has three children.

politics

Wintruff joined the SPD in 1968. In the same year he was elected to the local council of Graben-Neudorf , of which he was a member until 2004. From 1973 to 1994 he was a member of the district council of the district of Karlsruhe and from 1975 to 1985 chairman of the SPD Karlsruhe-Land. From 1980 to 1984 and again from 1988 to 2006 Wintruff was a member of the state parliament of Baden-Württemberg . There he represented constituency 30 (Bretten) and was chairman of the committee for youth, school and sport from 1992 to 2006.

Honors

In 2006 Wintruff was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit, First Class .
