Beach Spikers (in the arcade only Beach Spikers ) is a beach volleyball - sports simulation that as arcade game and the Nintendo GameCube was released. The GameCube version requires three available memory blocks .

Game setup

The game has an arcade mode, a world tour mode and a multiplayer mode for up to four players. The game also has a tutorial mode for beginners in which the player can get to know the gameplay first. In addition to the usual settings, the menu language (5 languages) can be set in the options and various sound tests can be carried out. By successfully ending the Arcade and World Tour modes, as well as by entering player name cheats , further design options can be activated for the World Tour editor. This includes u. a. also designs of well-known characters from other video games.

Gameplay

A total of 16 different women's national teams can be played in each mode. Your own figure is controlled from the third-person perspective . In addition to the nationalities, all teams also differ in their skill level. The gameplay is divided into five actions, in which mostly a power counter (shown in the form of a bar) is used. It determines the performance and appears automatically at the appropriate moments of action.

Arcade mode

The arcade mode is held according to the tournament format . The player chooses one of 16 national teams. Alternatively, you can choose your own team from the World Tour mode. Both players are controlled by player 1. All games (quarter-finals to final) are decided in a final sentence (up to 15 points, see counting method ). After the final you play another additional game against the team with which the player has achieved the best high score.

World tour mode

The World Tour mode comprises eight tournaments that are held in the same tournament format as in the Arcade mode (with the exception of the additional game). However, here the AI takes control of the partner figure. Between each tournament, your own rank can be viewed and the score can be saved. After the end of a season , the player has the opportunity to play further seasons. All eight tournament stages have licensed brand logos (e.g. Mikasa stage, Coca-Cola stage).

World Tour Editor

At the beginning of the World Tour Editor you have the freedom to decide on the design (name, nationality, appearance) of the two players. At the beginning and in the further course of a World Tour , the player receives skill points that must be assigned to the AI partner. You improve its seven attributes until each attribute has reached the maximum number of points. You start the World Tour mode first with a weak partner figure who becomes stronger over the course of a World Tour .

Team chemistry

In a game, the player can either cheer up or criticize his AI partner while changing sides, depending on the situation. The team chemistry (given as a percentage) of your own playing figure with that of the partner figure can be improved or worsened with these actions. It is also possible to take no action, which can also have an effect on team chemistry.

Tutorial mode

The tutorial mode enables new players to practice the individual game situations. Before each action to be trained, a sample video can be used to see what exactly should be trained. For each of the five actions in the game, up to five training units can be completed, which are in increasing difficulty.
