Beacon Theater

The Beacon Theater at the address 2124 Broadway is a historic theater in the theater district of New York . It was opened in 1929 and can seat up to 2,894 spectators. It was designed by the American architect Walter W. Ahlschlager . The theater was listed on November 4, 1982 as the Beacon Theater and Hotel on the National Register of Historic Places.

On October 29 and November 1, 2006, two concerts by the Rolling Stones took place, which Martin Scorsese documented for the concert film Shine a Light . The Allman Brothers Band performed a total of over 200 concerts at the Beacon Theater from 1989 to 2014, including their last concert ever on October 28, 2014.

In 2011 and 2012 the Tony Awards were presented at the Beacon Theater .

On January 9, 2016, Joan Baez's 75th birthday concert, with many companions, took place here.
