Enzo Pietropaoli (born September 29, 1955 in Genoa ) is an Italian jazz bassist.

Pietropaoli has lived in Rome since 1961 . In 1975 he made his debut in the “Trio di Roma” with the pianist Danilo Rea and the drummer Roberto Gatto . With Gatto he also played in the group Lingomania in the 1980s and in "Doctor 3" in the 1990s. In the late 1980s he played with the pianist Enrico Pieranunzi in his “Space Jazz Trio”. With all three groups he won the poll of the Italian magazine “ Musica Jazz ” as the best Italian group (Space Jazz Trio 1988 and 1989, Lingomania 1988, Doctor 3 in 1999, 2001, 2003). He also played with numerous international jazz greats - including Chet Baker , Pat Metheny , John Scofield , Toots Thielemans , Richard Galliano , Archie Shepp , John Abercrombie , Michael Brecker , Lee Konitz , Phil Woods , Johnny Griffin , Joe Pass , Kenny Clarke , Curtis Fuller , Woody Shaw , Lester Bowie - and toured worldwide. He played in the quintet of Enrico Rava and Paolo Fresu ("Shades of Chet" 1999) and can be heard on over 60 recordings, including four as leader. In addition to jazz, he also uses classical influences (such as Johannes Brahms ), Italian music from the 1960s and pop in his playing.
