Beate Wagner-Hasel

Beate Wagner-Hasel (born March 9, 1950 in Wuppertal ) is a German ancient historian .

After graduating from high school in Wuppertal-Elberfeld in 1969 , Beate Wagner-Hasel studied history, German and journalism in Münster and at the FU and TU in Berlin from 1969 to 1975 . From 1971 to 1977 she worked for the daily newspaper “ Der Tagesspiegel ” in Berlin. In 1975 and 1984 she took the first and second state exams in history and German. In 1980 Wagner-Hasel received his doctorate in Ancient History at the Technical University of Berlin on the subject of Between Myth and Reality. The woman in early Greek society . There she also worked as a research assistant for ancient history from 1977 to 1982.

She then worked from 1985 to 1991 as a university assistant for ancient history at the University of Hanover . From 1992 to 1994 she was a lecturer at the Universities of Darmstadt , Kassel and Hanover. In 1995 she completed her habilitation with the contribution The Substance of Gifts. Culture and politics of giving and exchanging in archaic Greece in the subject of Ancient History in Darmstadt. From December 15, 2001 until her retirement, Wagner-Hasel taught as Professor of Ancient History at the University of Hanover.

Her main research interests are the economic and social history of the old world, the history of science, ancient mythology and gender history.
