Beatrix Kernic , also Beatrice Kernic , actually Blazvenca Kernic married Beatrix Göhring ( September 2, 1870 in Glina , Austria-Hungary - March 18, 1947 in Langenhagen , Germany ) was an Austrian opera singer ( mezzo-soprano ) and opera director .

Life

Kernic Beatrix was the daughter of a city notary who was an adjutant to Archduke Josef as an officer. As a child she was determined to pursue a stage career by her grandfather, Kapellmeister J. Wendel. He started giving her piano lessons when she was four years old, and Kernic also began studying singing at an early age. After she had received her first instruction in this regard in Agram , she came to the Vienna Conservatory in 1889, where she was trained by Professor Johann Reß . She entered the stage in Wroclaw in September 1892 as “Siebel” in “Faust” and was engaged in the same year at the Leipzig City Theater (inaugural role “Ännchen” in “Freischütz”). There the artist worked until 1897, in which year she joined the Association of the Munich Court Theater (inaugural role "Rose Friquet"). In 1899 she was entrusted with the assignment of the role of "Eva" at the Bayreuth Festival , after devoting herself to studying this role with Ms. Cosima Wagner . With this achievement she achieved a very notable success and was called the best "Evchen" that could be found in Germany at that time. Her excellent vocal disposition was praised and her fresh, lively playing that always adapts to the given situation was recognized in words of great praise. In the rendition of her parts, she unfolds a profound, grandiose feeling, powerfully supported by her luminous, voluminous voice, real in every move, every slightest shade inputted by the right musical instinct. Of their achievements, the following are particularly mentioned: "Gretl" "Nedda" "Mignon" "Marie" ("Tsar and Carpenter", "Armorer"), "Zerlina" ("Don Juan" and "Fra Diavolo").

From 1899 to 1904 she worked at the Munich Court Opera (inaugural role: "Rose Friquet"). From 1904 to 1911, at the height of her career, she then sang at the Frankfurt Opera House.

Her engagement was based on her participation in the first performance of Tchaikovsky's "Eugene Onegin" in 1902, where she sang the role of "Tatjana" and her appearance on January 12, 1902 at the world premiere of Humperdinck's fairytale opera "Sleeping Beauty".

Guest performances at the court operas in Berlin and Dresden, at the court theater in Weimar and at other stages followed. From 1911 to 1923 she worked at the Hoftheater (since 1918 Landestheater) in Hanover, where she married a lawyer named Göhring.

From 1923 to 1924 she worked as an opera director in Zagreb.

Her sister Anka Kernic ( July 17, 1886 - September 10, 1949 ) was also an opera soubrette.
