The basin of Cilli ( Slovenian Celjska kotlina ) is an inner-alpine basin south of the Bacher and Steiner Alps , traversed by the river Sann ( Savinja ).

At the same time it is an urban area of Celje (German Cilli ) in Slovenia , around 50 km northeast of Ljubljana . It has a length of 35 km and a width of 6 to 12 km. In addition to Celje - from west to east - the municipalities of Vransko , Polzela , Prebold , Žalec , Štore and Šentjur pri Celju are located in the basin. Motorway 1 runs lengthways between Ljubljana and Maribor .

The Cilli basin is a popular destination for hikers.
