Becky Johnston

Becky Johnston (born April 1, 1956 in South Haven , Michigan ) is an American screenwriter .

Life

Becky Johnston was born in 1956. In 1973 she graduated from Interlochen Fine Arts High School.

In 1986 her screenplay for the Prince musical Under the Cherry Moon was made into a film. For this she was nominated for the Golden Raspberry .

She became known for the script for The Lord of the Tides (1991), for which she received an Oscar nomination at the 1992 Academy Awards . The script was based on the novel " Herren der Insel " by Pat Conroy , who also worked on the script. This was followed by Seven Years in Tibet , which on the book by Heinrich Harrer based. For the script, Johnston, who is actually a Protestant , dealt with Buddhism .

In 2010 she appeared in the documentary Jean-Michel Basquiat: The Radiant Child about Jean-Michel Basquiat . She interviewed the artist in 1988, two years before his death at the age of only 27.

At Angelina Jolie's special request, she also wrote a sequel to the film Salt , which has not yet been made into a film.
