action

The advertising designer Nelson Moss lives a life full of stress and hectic. His girlfriend, with whom he wakes up, accuses him of having no time for life. During a driver's license check, he met Sara Deever, whom he asked for help with the test. When Nelson's attempt to talk to her, the examiner mistakenly invalidates Sara's test, which means she needs a driver. Nelson takes her to a house from which Sara steals certain dogs for experiments.

When an important customer rejects Nelson's suggestions, he freaks out and loses his job. His girlfriend breaks up with him that same day because she feels exploited and alone. Deever offers to spend a month with her, which should make him a better person. He laughs at her first, then agrees and becomes her Mr. November.

Nelson spends a day in the park with Sara romping around with dogs and asks her what makes this way of life superior to his own. He learns from Sara that she was once an entrepreneur herself, which she gave up as not fulfilling. His friend Vince arranges a meeting with advertiser Edgar Price, who makes Nelson and Vince a good offer. When Price accuses a waitress of incompetence and makes her cry, Nelson turns down the offer. He makes up with Sara, who meanwhile confides in her neighbor and Mr. October , Chaz, doubts that Nelson can change.

Nelson is proposing marriage to Sara when she collapses. He learns from Chaz that Sara is terminally ill with cancer. Still he wants to marry her. However, she rejects him because she does not want him to see her in this state. On Thanksgiving , Nelson thinks up a surprise to cheer Sara up, which he succeeds. They spend a day and a night together.

When Nelson wakes up early in the morning, he hears Sara leaving the house. He runs after her and finally catches up with her. She tearfully tells him that she doesn't want him to see her slowly die. He should keep her in mind as she is now. She tells him he is her immortality , kisses him again and blindfolds him with her scarf. When he takes off the scarf after a while, it has already disappeared.
