Elliott Kastner

Elliott Kastner (born January 7, 1930 in New York City , † June 30, 2010 in London ) was an American film producer .

Life

Kastner had started as a film producer in the mid- 1960s, working in particular with Pinewood Studios in Iver Heath.

During his time as a producer of Hollywood films , he worked with Marlon Brando , Richard Burton , Clint Eastwood , Anthony Hopkins , Robert Mitchum and Mickey Rourke , among others . In addition to war films such as Agenten die einsam (1968), he also made film adaptations of crime novels by Raymond Chandler such as Death Knows No Return (1973) and The Big Sleep (1978).

In 2002, the film he co-produced Sweet November (2001) was nominated for the Golden Raspberry in the category “Worst Remake or Continuation” .

Kastner died, according to his stepson Cary Elwes in a battle with cancer .
