Bedri Noyan

Salih Bedrettin Noyan (* 1912 in Serez , Greece ; † November 7, 1997 ) was the last joint spiritual leader ( Dedebaba ) of the Bektaschi in Turkey .

Noyan attended elementary school and high school in Samsun. He studied medicine at Istanbul University , where he graduated in 1937. Then he worked at the Ankaraner Numune Hospital with Max Meyer from Austria . There he made his specialist training for ear, nose and throat medicine . In 1946 he became a docent at the Istanbul Faculty of Medicine (as the second ENT doctor in his country). From 1951 he worked as a resident ENT doctor in Aydın and Izmir .

Noyan was elected on March 21, 1960 by the Alevi and Bektashite communities to the so-called Dedebaba and received the post of Pīr . After Noyan's death in 1997, the Bektashi community in Turkey split, so that there have been two dedebabas in Turkey since then.
