Bedside Radio is a song by the Swiss hard rock band Krokus .
background
“Bedside Radio” is a song that is one of the classics of the Swiss hard rock band Krokus today and appears in the setlist at almost every concert. In Europe in particular, the composition, which is on position 2 of the band's fourth studio album, Metal Rendez-Vous , released in 1980, is one of the band's greatest hits. "Bedside Radio" was written by the main songwriters of the band, Fernando von Arb and Chris von Rohr , as well as by Jürg Naegeli, who was already playing bass at the time of publication to take care of the band's sound.
Released as a single
“Bedside Radio” was - even if the exact release date is no longer known today - before “ Tokyo Nights ” and “ Heatstrokes ” the first of three single releases from the studio album Metal Rendez-Vous and thus also the first release of its kind with Marc Storace as a singer. In addition, it is consequently the band's third single overall. The song was released in 1979, as a pre-release for the said album, but did not make it into the charts when it was first released, like its predecessors " Highway Song " and " Susie ". However, this finally succeeded in December 2007, when the title surprisingly climbed to number 58 in the Swiss single charts as a result of the band's appearance on the Swiss TV show The Biggest Swiss Hits . In addition, after the reunion concert at the Stade de Suisse in Bern, Switzerland, the song made another entry in the same single charts when it entered the 79th place for a week in August 2008. The single Bedside Radio was released in three different editions and two different cover artwork: once as a regular 7 "single in Switzerland and in Germany with the B-side" Come On ", which can also be found on Metal Rendez-Vous ; also in Great Britain as a 12 "single with the B-sides" Back-Seat Rock 'n' Roll "and" Lady Double Dealer " also available on Metal Rendez-Vous and finally - also in Great Britain - as a black and transparent 7" - Promo single, again with "Back-Seat Rock 'n' Roll" as the B-side.
