Tokyo Nights is a song by the Swiss hard rock band Krokus .

background

Along with “ Bedside Radio ” and “ Heatstrokes ”, “Tokyo Nights” is one of the classics of the fourth studio album, Metal Rendez-Vous , which was released in 1980 and which marked the international breakthrough of the Swiss hard rock band Krokus . The composition, which was again penned by Fernando von Arb, Chris von Rohr and Jürg Naegeli and is on position 6 on the album, is still regularly on the setlist at concerts of the band. It is therefore noteworthy that the title, for which a music video was also shot, has not yet been integrated into a best-of compilation by Krokus. A trademark of “Tokyo Nights” are the reggae rhythms in the middle part of the song.

Released as a single

"Tokyo Nights" is one of three single releases from the album Metal Rendez-Vous and probably the fourth single by the band. Since 1979 is often mentioned as the release date, although the publication is usually listed after "Bedside Radio", it can be assumed that this is both the second pre-release single and the second single for the said album as a whole. Like all Krokus singles before, she missed a placement in the charts. “Tokyo Nights” was published - comparable to Bedside Radio - in several editions and in four different cover art, with all B-sides also coming from Metal Rendez-Vous . While the Dutch 7 "single comes up with the B-side" Come On ", which was already an addition to a variant of the" Bedside Radio "single, the back of the German 7" single contains the song "Heatstrokes". A variant produced exclusively for the Japanese market - also in 7 "format - has the title" Shy Kid "as the B-side. In addition, a 7 ″ single and a yellow 12 ″ single including sticker were released for the British market, but they contain the same cover and the same B-sides, namely with "Bedside Radio" and "Shy Kid" two live recordings Visit of the band at the radio station Vara Radio in Hilversum, Netherlands were recorded. It remains to be mentioned that the song "Tokyo Nights" is contained in shortened versions on some 7 "singles: The Dutch and Japanese singles have a length of 4:00, while the British edition has a duration of 3: 15th
