Heatstrokes is a song by the Swiss hard rock band Krokus .

background

"Heatstrokes" is a song that, along with " Bedside Radio " and " Tokyo Nights ", is one of the classics of Krokus' fourth studio album, Metal Rendez-Vous , which was released in 1980 . The composition, which is also the album's opener, was written by the songwriting duo Fernando von Arb and Chris von Rohr . "Heatstrokes" was the first big one both in Great Britain, where the title reached number 1 in the British metal charts and in the hit list of Sounds magazine , and in America, where it became popular not least because of a heat wave that continued during the time of publication Hit the band. A video clip recorded in London especially for the TV show Rock Biz Pix ensured a further increase in awareness .

Released as a single

After the two pre-singles " Bedside Radio " and " Tokyo Nights ", which both appeared in 1979, "Heatstrokes" was only released after the studio album Metal Rendez-Vous in 1980 and was thus the third single from the album, as well as the fifth single of the Band at all. Apart from number 1 in the British metal charts, the song could not place in any other hit parade. Just like "Bedside Radio" and "Tokyo Nights", the single was released in several different editions and three different cover artwork. Once again, only songs from Metal Rendez-Vous were used as B-sides . All British versions of the single, both the regular and the limited 7 ″ single with a patch and the 12 ″ single, have the B-side "Shy Kid", which was already featured on the "Tokyo Nights" - Single was to be found as such. The Japanese 12 ″ single, on the other hand, contains three additional songs: While “Tokyo Nights” is included as the second A-side, the B-side consists of live recordings from “Bedside Radio” and “Shy Kid”, which were recorded when visiting the Dutch radio station Radio Vara in Hilversum were recorded together. However, these also appeared previously on the British versions of the "Tokyo Nights" single. A special feature is the American promo single, which on the one hand contains a version of the song shortened to 2:26, which is offered in both a mono and a stereo version, and on the other hand due to the exchanged or incorrectly affixed labels - the Stereo label sticks to the mono side and vice versa - represents a bad pressing.
