Metal Rendez-Vous is the fourth studio album by the Swiss hard rock band Krokus . It contains the single releases " Bedside Radio ", " Tokyo Nights " and " Heatstrokes ".

background

Metal Rendez-Vous represented the final breakthrough for Krokus in Switzerland and a groundbreaking step internationally. With the integration of the Maltese frontman Marc Storace , who had previously released three albums with the Swiss progressive rock band TEA and with the British formation Eazy Money appeared briefly on the NWoBHM sampler Metal for Muthas Volume II - Cut Loud , the missing piece of the puzzle was added to the sound of Krokus. Now you had a singer who, with his charismatic voice, also suited the band's hard rock, and Chris von Rohr , who played a decisive role in Storace's engagement, willingly switched to bass. The previous bassist Jürg Naegeli accompanied the band from then on as a guest and temporary musician as well as a sound engineer. The comparisons with the Australian band AC / DC , which were already much more successful at the same time , fell from now on in abundance, but could not be dismissed out of hand. Krokus put direct, riff-oriented hard rock on tape with Metal Rendez-Vous , but compared to its predecessor Pay It in Metal / Pain Killer, it was even better staged by the scratchy organ of Storace. In Switzerland, the album, recorded in the Platinum One studio in Zurich , reached triple platinum with over 150,000 units sold, and the hit single " Heatstrokes ", for which a video was made, rose to number 1 in the metal charts of the British music magazine Sounds . At the same time, “ Bedside Radio ” and “Come On” were also in this top 20 hit list. These successes brought Krokus to the opening act for Nazareth , Ted Nugent , Rainbow , Sammy Hagar , AC / DC and Cheap Trick and to a joint tour with Girlschool , More and Angel Witch before they were allowed to perform at the renowned Reading Festival . Even today, the singles “Bedside Radio”, “ Tokyo Nights ” and “Heatstrokes”, but also other songs like “Fire” and “Back-Seat Rock 'n' Roll” regularly appear in the Swiss live program. According to Chris von Rohr, the album was produced by Martin Pearson, Fernando von Arb and himself, not - as is shown on the various recordings - by Martin Pearson and the whole band. Metal Rendez-Vous was re-released in May 2014 by the Rock Candy label .
