One Vice at a Time is the sixth studio album by the Swiss hard rock band Krokus . It contains the single releases "American Woman", "Bad Boys, Rag Dolls" and "Long Stick Goes Boom".

background

After Krokus had separated from their founding member and lead guitarist Tommy Kiefer and the substitute Mandy Meyer jumped in before the start of the recording of the new album, the band introduced guitarist Mark Kohler for their sixth work One Vice at a Time . This also resulted in a small change in the band structure: Fernando von Arb was now lead guitarist and Mark Kohler took over the rhythm guitar. However, the musical direction did not change. With the album recorded at Battery Studios in London , Krokus continued to offer the straightforward hard rock that made them famous, and it was received with glee internationally by both the press and fans. Again the band was able to record chart entries in several countries: In the USA the album reached number 53, in the Netherlands number 43, in Germany number 38, in Sweden number 36 and in Great Britain number 28. The singles "Long Stick Goes Boom", " Bad Boys, Rag Dolls ”and the Guess Who cover“ American Woman ”supported the sales figures and, like“ Down the Drain ”, are still seen and expected live songs by the band to this day. One Vice at a Time brought Krokus gold status, among others in Switzerland, Canada and the USA. The album was then promoted through extensive concert tours, again with well-known rock greats such as Motörhead , Rush , Rainbow and Cheap Trick . In addition, Krokus underlined its position as the most successful rock band in Switzerland by being the first Swiss rock formation to completely fill the Hallenstadion in Zurich - a record that still exists today. But even after this album, what happened in the following years, so to speak, would become the band's trademark: The band carousel continued to spin and after the World Vice Tour, long-time drummer Freddy Steady left the group. He was replaced by the American Steve Pace, who - apart from Marc Storace - was the first non-Swiss member in the band's history. According to information from Chris von Rohr, One Vice at a Time was not produced by Tony Platt and the whole band, as is printed on all of the records, but only by Platt, Arb and himself. A specialty of the album are those in the USA released LPs, which on the one hand differ slightly from the other releases in terms of the cover artwork and also have a marginally changed track list in that the positions of "To the Top" and "Save Me" are swapped. One Vice At A Time was re-released in May 2014 by the Rock Candy label .
